The Crazy Chameleon is located at 56 Elm Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. In 1993, the Crazy Chameleon was established by Christine Burke. At the time, there were no laws on body modification, with the exception of tattooing, which was legalized on January 31, 2001.

The piercers of the Crazy Chameleon learn their trade during a one year intensive apprenticeship, working under a licensed piercer. Tattoo artists serve a three year apprenticeship under a licensed tattoo artist.

Even before there were laws, Crazy Chameleon held to the strictest bodyart laws, following laws set down by California, Texas and New York State.

We also implemented a practice which is not used by many businesses, because of the amount of work involved - the packaging and sterilization of each individual piece of body jewelry sold in our store, all of which we make or are brand new from only professional manufacturers.

The Crazy Chameleon is also involved in local and community events, including the Dare Program, The Taconic High School "Intern for a Day" Program, Berkshire Art League, and provides informational lectures upon request to local schools, hospitals and other public service organizations.

We have a professional trained staff that have been seen on the Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, the BBC and has not only been in Xtream Body Modification Magazine, but a writer for them also. We have been invited to do demonstrations and lectures at museums, one in particular was an honor: The Norman Rockwell Museum. Voted BEST Tattoo and Body Art Shop in the Berkshires EVERY year that they have added the category for BEST Tattoo and Body Art Shop.  With the legalization of tattooing in 2001, we watched as numerous shops popped up all over the Berkshires and Massachusetts. After having been in Pittsfield, for over 7 years, we brought in our tattooists.  Now being 4 years later, we have watched most of the other shops come and go.  We are still here, and growing, and with each year that passes, we continue to train our staff in the newest body art styles, customer service and providing the best tattoo and body piercing experiences we can.
